Beehive Ginger

Zingiber spectabilis

Spotted at 10:57 AM Color: Greenish Yellowish Texture: Hard Growing on the forest floor. Large leaves below it seem to grow around it.

Singapore American School Secondary Rainforest. Found on the forest floor; slightly above the leaf litter.

Please help me figure out what this is. There are not many of them spotted in the rainforest. I would like to know if it is edible to animals.
