hi, I searched my book a little, in europe obtain only two species of Polygonum, it's P. c-album and P. egea, P. egea has white "y" marked on underside of hindwings, and different coloration of underwings, so it' not on your spot. P. c-album has difference in black spots between male and female, I'm sure you have right ID, :)
Here is our expert's information... Hoary Comma. There is a missing spot on the hindwing and the regular dark stripe at the margins and the forewing is not so spiky and scalopped like in the other species. Think we can rule out Hoary Comma! I asked bayucca to have a look at your spotting if he has time... Hope that helps...
