1/2 inch; shaped like a ladybug with black underside
spotted on screened porch of riverfront home
It is a tricky one as it is much larger than most Tortoise Beetles and it does kind of look like a big ladybug. They have been fairly common here this year.
Thanks so much, Keith! Tortoise beetle never occured to me (and I swear I searched BugGuide and came up empty).
