Black Rat snake

Pantherophis obsoletus

Habitat:

Extremely loose limestone shelf.

Notes:

Was working my way up this steep, loose rock hill using trees to pull myself up. Was going to use this tree until my eyes focused on what was in it! These guys were very patient with me, at one point I was above them holding on to a branch with one hand and trying to take pictures of them with my phone with my other hand. Wasn't planning on herps that day... I was looking for morel mushrooms that day when I stumbled upon a new rocky section I hadn't realized was there.
