Rosa blanda
The Smooth Wild Rose grows erect 1 to 3 feet high, with little branching and mostly without thorns. It has white to pink flowers with 5 petals. In the center are numerous stamens with white and yellow anthers. Leaves are pinnate with 5 to 9 oblong leaflets and course teeth.
Spotted at Tamarac near Pine Lake. It tends to grow on slightly moister or richer soil that the Smooth Prairie Rose and is common at woods edges, near wetlands, or along old fields and pastures.
Blooms June and July.
