Green Iguana

Iguana iguana

Description:

36 to 48 inch long iguana species with one apparent male on the top of the female. Male has upright orange and black spiky spines on his head and dorsal/back area. Overall medium green color over the entire body with black patches and rings on tail in both sexes. Male exhibits red colored genitals in third photo.

Habitat:

Urban area with a canal nearby located directly near busy intersection and sidewalk where the iguanas "sun" themselves daily.

Notes:

Happened upon these two "romantically inclined iguanas. While they were copulating I took a series of shots. They separated and I was able to get a good shot of the male's genital area after separation from the female.
