Fragrant orchid

Gymnadenia conopsea

Description:

At first glance, we thought it should be a Fragrant orchid (Gymnadenia conopsea) because of those very long spurs... but the form of flower, and namely labelle, was rather confusing... Finally, with the help of Jopy, we settled for Fragrant; in spite of unorthodox form of flowers.

Habitat:

In an open meadow, on alluvial pleins. Rhone National park, close to Geneva.

Notes:

This was one of our first tries in "going to Orchids", learning about and collecting some of photos of members of this beautiful family... So, my son and I, we had a lot of difficulties identifying our spoils - and here, with this orchid, we got stuck!
