Rustic Sphinx Moth

Manduca rustica

Description:

This was one of the larger moths I have seen this week and a lifer for me! Fortunately, this lovely sphinx moth was not too battered for identification. The caterpillars of sphinx moths are often called hornworms because most of them have a distinctive horn on their rumps! National Moth Week 2017.

Habitat:

Suburban. Attracted to a flood light overnight.
