Stick Case Moth Larvae

Description:

A large casing made from small twigs/sticks of similar size connected to a silken case with silk threads by a caterpillar of the Case Moth. the caterpillar extends its head from the top entrance and moves around and/or attaches its 'home' to branches as it rests. This on measured about 1.5 to 2 inches long (depending on whether I measured from the shorter or longer sticks.

Habitat:

A variety found in many areas and habitats of Australia, this one in woodland adjacent to garden hanging on a fine-leaved paperbark tree.
