Yellow headed Blackbird

Xanthocephalus xanthocephalus

Description:

Males are black with yellow hoods while the female is mostly brown with a yellow throat and breast.

Habitat:

The yellow-headed blackbird is most at home in the reeded marshes and wetlands of the western United States.

Notes:

Even though these are primarily western US birds, some have undertaken winter migrations to the US east coast with some numbers flying as far a northern Europe and Iceland!
