Meromacrus acutus is a species of syrphid fly in the family Syrphidae. This one right here was resting on a wood deck, and was still, until it flew away later that day.
In my garden in Fort Worth, Texas
The yellow on this fly looks like it has scales like a Lepidopteran in the sun.
