Fragrant clematis

Clematis flammula

Description:

This deciduous, woody climber is equally at home scrambling over the ground and low vegetation as it is climbing up a tree. The ribbed stems and leaf stalks are sensitive to touch and quickly wrap themselves around any object for support. The creamy white flowers grow in loose clusters and are highly fragrant.

Habitat:

Found over ground and over hedges and bushes, or climbs up walls and trees, in semi-shaded placs and open woods.

Notes:

This one was clmibing through cypress trees in a client's garden.
