A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cimbex americana
A yellow with a black stripe down the middle. It coiled up into a ball when touched.
Found in the back ally.
This is a sawfly larvae, Hymenoptera. One of the ways you tell the difference between a sawfly larvae (Hymenoptera) and a caterpillar (Lepidoptera) is the number of prolegs. Caterpillars have 5 or fewer, sawflies 6 or more. Sawflies always have a visible head and eye.
