Phrynosoma solare
Sonoran desert
Very calm
Please add this spotting to my Tucson Wildlife Count project mission. Are you aware that Regal Horned Lizards are declining from the Tucson area. What area in Oro Valley did you find this one and did you only see this one?
From my AZ field guide: "The four central horns are roughly equal in length and their bases touch, distinguishing this lizard from other Arizona horned lizards."
It's of the Genus Phrynosoma, but I'm not sure of the species.
