Eastern Screech Owl

Description:

Eastern screech owls are small North Eastern owls with red (red-faced) or gray (gray-faced) plumage. They have a high whinnying trill of a call.

Habitat:

Found in nearly any environment east of the Rockies with a suitable tree near a freshwater source.

Notes:

Talullah, Grant, and Barkley (respective to photograph order) are Teatown's resident screech owl ambassadors. Talullah and Barkley are both fully-flighted birds with eye injuries and Grant has complications with his flight feathers causing an inability to fly properly.
