White-face Fly

Archytas apicifer

Description:

large than housefly, these flies are helpful parasites that attack the noctuid moth.

Habitat:

temperate forest, meadow

Notes:

This fly landed on my hand while I was photographing butterflies in a meadow. I couldn't believe how calm it was on my hand. It didn't seem like it was going to fly away so I took some photos of it. I held it up high to get the blue sky as the background.
