Cool, guess he was looking for a place to chill.
Oh it was definitely a male, I ID'd it myself (the vent on the tail was not close to the shell). And it wasn't as large, about a 15 inch long shell...
It could have been a female looking for a place to lay eggs. Was the turtle very large?
