Long-horned Bee - male

Melissodes bimaculata

Description:

Male long-horned bees have very long antennae (female antennae are much shorter), which gives this tribe its name. M. bimaculata males can also be distinguished by their bright yellow clypeus and labrum (the plates above the mandible).

Habitat:

Eastern U.S. west to Colorado & New Mexico. Protected areas adequate for nesting & areas of flowers.
