Description:

Males in spring are bright yellow with black wings and black cap on head. Females are dull by comparison. In the fall males lose their bright yellow breeding plumage and will be nearly the same olive-yellow color as the female.

Habitat:

Common in backyards with feeders full of black oil sunflower seeds and thistle seeds
