Carabid

Carabus sp.

Description:

Large and all black insect, about 3cm in length and found drowned in a pool. I believe it is Carabus nemoralis, or Bronze Carabid, but decided to leave it at genus level seems there are many native carabids around.

Habitat:

Found drowned in a garden swimming pool, rural suburbs of Lyon (east-central France) bordering broadleaved forest.
