Canada Goose

Branta canadensis

Description:

Very Large flock of Canada geese. Took a few pictures of the geese and when I look at the pictures I notice one goose (far right of the 1st picture) that seems a fair amount smaller that the other geese. I'm not quite sure how small a Cackling Goose is, I've hear about the size of a mallard. Could that goose be a cackling goose, or perhaps just a young Canada?

Habitat:

Lake

I agree the bill on the smaller one is still average for a Canada. And as she said there subspecies to Canadas.

Thank you AshleyT. That what I was thinking. I thought it was a little large compared the pictures I've seen, but I have never seen one since they are relatively uncommon in my area.

They all look like Canada to me. There is quite a bit of size variation among Canadas, but a Cackling has a super short neck and their bill is really tiny.
