Podontia affinis
Color yellow , about 15mm large and elongate-oval body, convex from lateral view. with 8 black spots. Head hypo-prognathous, Antennal calli absent. Interantennal space wider than transverse diameter of eye. Antennal furrow present. Eye prominent and small. Antenna 11-segmented, filiform.
Distribution: Mostly Oriental genus distributed through China, India, Vietnam, Korea, Malaysia, Australia. Host Plants: Toxicodendron, Canarium & Spondias dulcis (Golden Apple).
The nymph is covered by a layer of dark brown slimy substance on its back as a way of camouflage to avoid detection by its predator. The slimy substance is thought to be faecal material.
