African Puff Adder

Bitis arietans

Description:

Responsible for more deaths in Africa than any other snake, Puff Adders are defensive vipers that (like the gaboon and rhino vipers) reach a decent size.

Habitat:

This species has a very broad geographic range and are found mostly in grasslands and woodlands.

Notes:

The Riverbanks Zoo has one individual (pictured) that is literally the best looking puff adder I've ever seen. As you can see the color is unusually light.

Awesome captures!

Beautiful snake! Since it was spotted in a zoo, please add this to the Captive Animals mission. This helps separate the captive from wild spottings. Thank you! http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/7973...
