Ideopsis juventa manillana
The Wood Nymph, Gray Glassy Tiger, or Grey Glassy Tiger (Ideopsis juventa) is a species of nymphalid butterfly in the Danainae subfamily. It is found in Southeast Asia. This butterfly is dark gray or black with two rows of circular white dots along the margins of its wings and any elongated white patchs closer to the body. The elongated white patches appear to radiate from the thorax.
Hi Coleen, Ideopsis vulgaris (the Blue Glassy Tiger) exists in the Philippines but in the Palawan area only (as subspecies palawana). The similar-looking species existing in Panay is the Ideopsis juventa manillana. :)
