Amanita

Description:

Cap was sunken & top light brown. Cap surface appeared smooth. Gill spacing was crowed. Stalk was Central & Bulbous.

Habitat:

In mixed forrest, red clay soil in shade. Only spec. found was after 3 days of rain. In Cushing Mem. Park in Canton, Ga 30114.

Cord. Do "regular oval/flat" mushrooms invert their caps when they get old? I was thinking this was a cup type?-

Some sort of Amanita sp.
The fact that this is an old specimen and it has lost it's color makes me think that this is Amanita pantherina.
