Phyllidiopsis nudibranch

Phyllidiopsis fissurata

Description:

Phyllidiopsis fissuratus grows to about 79mm. has black background to dorsum and many tall, pale pink tubercles. The rhinophores are pink with a black tip and a black line down the posterior edge. It also has a translucent raised rim around the raised rhinophore pockets and a smooth tall raised pink anal papilla. Source: http://www.seaslugforum.net/phylfiss.htm...

Notes:

About 50mm, spotted at a depth of about 9m. Batangas, Philippines. Initially thought this was a Phyllidiela but later confirmation by nudi experts Gary Cobb and Erwin Koehler turned out to be a Phyllidiopsis fissurata. The close-ups in pictures 3 & 4 helped establish this as it shows the dual color of the rhinophores. Many thanks to Gary and Erwin for this :-)
