Description:

A snapper on the left and a musk turtle on the right. If you look at the shell you can tell the difference between the two species. The main difference is that the snapping turtle has spikes on his shell and the musk has a more dome like shell.

in the muddy shallows of a lake

Hi Turtles2Penquins. Nice turtle spotting! Any chance you can crop this image and split it into 2 spottings? The scientific names are: Common Snapping Turtle, Chelyrdra serpentina, and Common Musk Turtle, Sternotherus odoratus. Thanks!
