Description:

Black, shiny golf ball. Short stem into the ground with tan coloured material underneath. Inside is a mass of black sticky material permeated by lentil-like creamy coloured beads.

Habitat:

Within a 'natural' very wide highway division in suburbia. Mixture of native species, medium sized eucalyptus and short grasses. This was against the base of a eucalypt.

Notes:

"This puffball's black viscous gel is used as a natural dye for clothes. Pisolithus tinctorius is also a major component in Mycorrhizae fungi mixtures that are used in gardening as powerful root stimulators."... wikipedia
