It was orange and very hard. It was also very flat and round
Grows on the side of damp logs and trees
It felt very hard and rough

Next time, take a photo of the underside of the cap. You'll notice this species has gills! Don't know what species it is, though. But my hunch is it should be found in the genus Gymnopilus.
