Wasp Mantidfly

Climaciella brunnea

Description:

Looks like a cross between a Praying Mantis and a wasp. Antennae move alternately back and forth in rhythmic motion. Yellow and black coloring and holds wings in wasp like V shape.

Habitat:

Found in my back yard bordered by forest and dense brush.

I hope some day to find one of these cool insects! I have never seen one in real life. Nice spotting!

Yeah, it's called a mantid wasp or mantisfly - it's a wasp mimic. I saw one of these last year and was blown away. Maybe someone else can help with the genus.
