Caterpillar of Hemeroplanes

Hemeroplanes sp ( H. triptolumus, posib)

Description:

What about a creature; which is rich in proteins, fragile and tasty to most predators in the forest, but it looks like one of the most poisonous snakes from the rain forest? This is the caterpillar of a Sphingidae moth, I found in La Selva Biological Station in Sarapiq

Habitat:

Rainforest

Thanks Jonathan. It is just fantastic.

Thanks Leana and Mark

Ahh Leuba, the caterpillar is about 14 cm Long the snake is large but the size of the head of the caterpillar is really similar to the size of the snake when it is a juvenile

Beautiful capture!

Mind blowing ! Thanks for sharing this Jonathan. It is amazing that a little caterpillar would mimic a much larger creature so perfectly-how could it possibly "know" ?? So many things in nature are puzzling...
Is the snake a small one too ?
