Large spider, maybe 7.5 to 10cm in length including legs.

Habitat:

Web built in the branches of an olive tree.

Notes:

Several large shield bugs caught and devoured over the course of 3 days.

I agree it is one of the Argiope species - you can search to find out which are present in your area.
