White-Headed Grape Leaffolder Moth

Desmia maculalis

Description:

Family: Crambidae, Subfamily: Pyraustinae. A common small black moth with 8 white/silver spots. And two white/silver bands on the abdomen. White fringe on the edges of the wings. TL no greater than 10 mm. Host: Grape

Habitat:

Near woodlands and meadow. Edge of lawn/woods has large quantity of grape vines. Attracted to light

Notes:

12:35 a.m. on the 23rd. Resembles the larger 16 mm moth Grape Leaffolder (Desmia funeralis)
