Jabuti Piranga

Description:

São animais que possuem casco convexo, carapaça bem arqueada e pernas grossas. A carapaça é uma estrutura óssea formada pelas vértebras do tórax e pelas costelas. Funciona como uma caixa protetora na qual o animal se recolhe quando ameaçado. É revestido por escudos (placas). O jabuti-piranga é de colorido mais vivo que outros jabutis. Possui a cabeça vermelha e escamas vermelhas nas patas. A carapaça do jabuti é ligeiramente alongada, alta e decorada com um padrão em polígonos de centro amarelo e com desenhos em relevo. A cabeça e as patas retráteis estão cobertas por escudos vermelhos e negros. Como animais de estimação, são calmos e quietos porem ativos. Adoram se banhar no sol ou em lâmpadas UV e se alimentarem. Acostumam-se rapidamente com as pessoas e novos ambientes, mas manuseios constates e rápidos podem estressá-los____(English)____They are animals that have convex hull, shell and arched and thick legs. Habitat:

São encontradas duas espécies de jabuti nas matas brasileiras, que residem desde o nordeste (subespécie) até ao sudeste: jabuti-piranga (Chelonoidis carbonaria) pode ser encontrado pelo Nordeste, Centro-oeste, Sudeste e Sul do Brasil. jabuti-tinga (Chelonoidis denticulata), menos comum, pois só existe na região amazônica (florestas densas).___(English)___They are found two species of tortoise in the Brazilian forests, which lie from the northeast (subspecies) to the southeast: tortoise-piranga (Chelonoidis carbonaria) can be found in the Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and Southern Brazil. tortoise-tinga (Chelonoidis denticulata), less common, because it only exists in the Amazon region (dense forests).
