Feral donkeys

Equus africanus

Description:

Donkeys have been a part of Mannar's history but are not native to the island. It is believed they were brought to Sri Lanka by Arab traders and merged into the lives of the human population. However, after the war displaced many people, the close connection between animal and man was severed, leading to the animals gradually turning wild.
