the large female of the wood spiders on her web. body, one and quarter inches, legs upto two inches each. dark body with bright spots of yellow, orange and rust.

Habitat:

around human habitation in dry deciduous habitat outskirts of bengaluru.

Signature spider in to my knowledge an Argiope sp.. This one is a Nephila sp. and most probably Nephila pilipes. But you have to verify! A better common name as I wrote in the suggestion would btw be: "Giant Wood Spider", please, take this one.
