Hairy Skullcap

Scutellaria elliptica

Description:

Upright flowering plant with small purple buds. Leaves and stem have purple highlighting. Found in open field.

Habitat:

west central ga.

Notes:

Got a positive ID on skullcap and can agree, but not sure of species. think it might be: Scutellaria integrifolia but the lower leaves of this specimen are throwing me off. https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result...

Hmmm. Good ID Grace. I'm looking at pics and think you're right about the Skullcap, but the lower leaves are throwing me off a solid ID also. I'm thinking Scutellaria integrifolia just because it's most common, but will leave it at Scutellaria sp without knowing for sure.
