Typhoctes peculiaris
Roughly 8-10 millimeters long, colored reddish brown as shown with silver pubescence.
Found as it was scurrying over sandy soil near a common sunflower (Helianthus anuus) near an arroyo (dry riverbed). Surrounding area was riparian corridor with willow, cottonwood; and degraded shortgrass prairie with prickly-pear cacti, yucca.

This is so neat Eric! I didn't know about this family and I would have thought it was some kind of bald Mutillid!
