A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
rana catesbeiana
Largest frog in North America. Can grow as long as 8 inches. Will eat anything it can overpower, from invertebrates and insects to crayfish and minnows. Some have eaten small birds and rodents and even other frogs (and bullfrogs!)
Found near larger, and more permanent bodies of water, like swamps, ponds and lakes along the water's edge.
**Caught as part of the BioDiversity Research Institute's BioBlitz at River Point Conservation Area in Falmouth, Maine.**
