Grey Heron

Ardea cinerea

Description:

Mostly shy but less shy than the Purple Heron. Large wader very majestic. Distinct black crest.

Habitat:

Swamps and marshes

Notes:

Just had to feel sorry for this guy. He was being chased by two spot billed pelicans and another grey heron... Lost his lunch. Bullies are everywhere.

Love the first photo. The bird looks as if it cannot believe the fish is flying. (I presume the heron dropped during flight?)
