Spectacular Rustgill

Gymnopilus junonius

Habitat:

Suburban nature strip in Autumn

Notes:

Spotted one morning on the way to work. Didn't notice if it later developed into a typical 'toadstool' cluster of mushrooms. Pic 2 & 3 are taken at the same time of year the following year. Obviously the same species but earlier in their growth cycle sine they were smaller. Near a Lophostemon tree. (Edit) added pic of mature cap taken 5/6/2013
