About 3 inches across.
Many sand dollars came out from the sand in the early morning. Only this one had it's cloak of sand completely washed off.
This was the first time I saw live sand dollars. Do males and females look different?
Some sand dollars do have variation among the males and females, but I can't find any information on that for this particular species. Gorgeous find!
I don't know the answer to your question I just know when they are blue they are alive!
