Thanks ForestDragon, I'm pretty sure your right, it definitely was not a lighting bug. I love finding little critters, I'm just not the best at identifying them. Your help is appreciated

Hi Sarah, this looks like a species of Blister Beetle, Family Meloidae. I haven't been able to find a match yet. Here is a link to the Bugguide page to the family:

I am not absolutely sure but it's somewhere to start.

He looks like a firefly, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't.
