Description:

1 1/2 in. long, black with long legs and reddish wings edged in black.

Habitat:

Dry wooded hillside.

Notes:

Adults drink nectar. Larva feed on tarantulas and trapdoor spiders which adult stings and paralyzes, then drags into burrow for larva.
