A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sayornis saya
Related to the Black Phoebe which is a resident bird. This species is a migratory bird for our area. The two Phoebes don't look anything a like. This bird is brownish grey on the head to tail. Dark shadow over the eyes. One faint wingbar and tail is darker. The upper chest is also a brownish grey but the belly to under tail is a light cinnamon color. Thick pointed bill and whiskers. These birds are also great fly catcher as well as hovering over their prey and diving.
Mostly found in open fields and marshes.
