Description:

Roughly 8 millimeters in body length, colored as shown. Note greatly enlarged hind femora ("thighs"), and lack of an ovipositor.

Habitat:

This wasp was gleaning something sweet from the leaves and stems of common sunflower (Helianthus anuus) at the edge of a vast open field of degraded shortgrass prairie with yucca, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.
