jellyfish

Description:

Jellyfish with gold spots and long tendrils. Very quick moving, packs a nasty sting.

Habitat:

In this case a 40 foot deep reef. this was taken within a mile of where the Atlantic and Caribbean meet in the BVI's.

Notes:

Some locals have called it a sea wasp and a box jelly but I don't believe either at accurate.

Hello. Even though it's called a jelly 'fish" it's an invertebrate and belongs in the "other" category. I'll move it there for you.

I found that there maybe only 4 species around the VI. Sea Walnut, Sea Wasp, Man o War and Moon. When I looked up pictures the Sea Wasp had some photos clear tall mushroom and some were golden.
Closest I found and not sure it's in range is the Brown Sea Nettle or the Atantic Sea Nettle
