Ceratomia undulosa
2 1/2" wingspan sphinx moth.
Semi rural.
My first sphinx moth - well worth burning dinner for!
Hehe, Jacob! Luckily even Luc conceded there was a good reason for burnt offerings - this time!
Nice shots, Karen! I think even the micro moths are worth burning dinner for, though that would mean I am a really bad cook!
Thanks Jolly & Irungbam!
Lovely spotting Karel.. This family of moth is one of the most favorite group of moths.
Very nice series. I love the wing pattern. It looks embroidered.
Thank you Bill! It was very exciting - what a shame it's a day late for moth week!
Congrats on your very first spotting of s Sphinx, Karen. I am pretty sure I know the feeling. It happens to me when I make a spotting of a bird I have never seen before.
