Tranquil Horse Fly

Description:

Pale posterior margins with golden hairs (but hairs absent or pale in worn individuals), pale areas not expanded anteriorly to form pale median triangles; sides of tergites 2 to 4 with variable amounts of orange; costal cell & apices of cell beyond the stigma yellow; at least femora black.

Habitat:

On Virgin's Bower next to a marsh.

Notes:

Never though I would have fun photographing a horse/deer fly ... it lives up to its name.
