Staghorn Sumac

Rhus typhina

Description:

The Staghorn Sumac, Rhus typhina, is a type of sumac related to trees in the Cashew family. The tree is quite short, and reminds me of a palm.

Habitat:

Primarily found in Southeastern Canada, the Northeastern and Midwestern United States and the Appalachian Mountains.

Notes:

I used to think they were a type of coffee tree when I was younger! They are very tropical looking!
